SPICED APPLE SAUCE

I want to share the recipe of my SPICED APPLE SAUCE. It's a good recipe to keep on hand when you have some extra apples laying around and they are getting withered and you want to make them last a bit longer. This recipe is great because you can eat it as it is or use in further cooking.
SPICED APPLE SAUCE
Ingredients:
- 6 Apples
- 1 Lemon
- Fresh Ginger
- Pinch of Cinnamon
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/2 cup water
Directions:
- Wash and peel apples. Cut them into small pieces and place in a pot.
- Add half a cup of water to the pot. Grate a bit of ginger on top of it. Zest a lemon and juice it.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon and salt to the pot.
- Cover with lid and put on the stove. Let it simmer till the apples get tender stirring occasionally.
- Once the apples are tender use immersion blender to puree everything.
- Enjoy as soon as it cools down or store it in the fridge for up to a week.
Ideas for further use:
- Use as apple pie filling.
- Use as a side to meat dishes. (Great with pork).
- Use as a dip.
- Use as a marinade.
